Robotic system that automates the quality control of artichoke seedling growth, providing three levels of quality: good, regular and bad. This allows complementing the work of specialized operators, increasing the productive capacity of a nursery, therefore, increasing the customer portfolio, and decreasing the percentage of returns by the final customer (agro-industries or private companies).
The robotic system has the following modules: a standard artichoke germination tray feeder, a computer vision, a seedling elevator and a multi-articulated gripper. All of them have been efficiently integrated allowing it to perform continuous, stable and robust quality control of seedling growth in industrial nurseries.
The development of this technology includes the design, simulation and implementation of the different modules previously mentioned, as well as the generation of different algorithms for digital image processing, trajectory generation and control in order to obtain a precise tracking of the desired working trajectory at a transport speed according to the production of the national market: 180mm/s. In principle, the robotic system works with artichoke seedlings of the Imperial Star type, between 21 and 23 days old. However, it can be easily adapted to any other species of artichoke seedling. In addition, it has IoT technology, connecting through it to local and global servers allowing remote and real-time management and manipulation. Currently its transplant success rate (pick, transfer and drop) is over 98%.
